Snuggie Snob

At this point, the Snuggie has become a 2009 pop icon (it has surely earned its own spot on a future episode of VH1's "I love the Millenium 2009). It would not be highly original of me to do a spoof or silly tribute to this overplayed infomercial.

Speaking of infomercials, I have failed to mention the fascination my children have with them. While it may be a testimony to the amount of TV my children watch, Jared and Kaci are convinced that we need Mighty Putty to fix our chipped coffee mugs, Aqua Globes to water the plants that we don't have, and the Big City Slider Station to make delicious mini hamburgers in our own home. And the Snuggie folks have done an excellent job at getting their infomercial into overplay on our local cable channels. Therefore, Jared, being the little sponge that he is, has been convinced that our home must have a Snuggie. But, as the title of this post suggests, I am a Snuggie snob. It looks itchy and the colors look cheap.

However, I am not a QVC snob. And QVC has its own version called the Slanket (get it, a blanket with sleeves!)! And it looked soft and cozy and came in much nicer colors and I knew that Jared would love to have one under the Christmas tree. So yes, we gave our 6 year old son a Slanket for Christmas (we also gave Ryan's grandmother one, but she may not have been as in love with it as Jared was).

Little did we know that it would become the most popular blanket in the house.

Kaci wears it when she gets computer time.
Jared wears it when he reads.

Ryan even brought it to the hospital when he stayed with me after Lucas was born.

I woke up Saturday morning to find everyone asleep on the couch and Lucas was wrapped in the Slanket.

Next time I see the Slanket on QVC, I may just have to order another. I promise that my family will not wear them to the high school football games, though. That would be dorky.
