Where to begin....

Remember high school? Remember that ugly nagging feeling that came along when you avoided doing that essay or studying for that exam? By this point in my life, I have enough experience to know exactly what to do to get rid of that nagging feeling that comes along whenever I procrastinate-- I need to just get the job done! While failing to update this blog has no immediate consequences, it is my only journaling outlet to mark the moments of my family so I do get that nagging feeling when I don't do it.

So, where to begin?

The kids and I took a trip to Louisville, Kentucky to meet Christy and Genny (Mary Rose couldn't be there due to a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the Jonas Brothers). We had no idea where we were going or what there was to do, but we knew it would be a fun trip. We stayed in a cabin disguised as a bed and breakfast and it was painstakingly adorable. It was perfect for our clan because we could sing (especially "How Does She Know" from "Enchanted") as loud as necessary without bothering anyone. The above picture is just one image of the kids who were almost near perfect the entire time-- and for those of you who travel with children, you realize how rare that can be.

Christy and I were so proud of ourselves for manuevering our way through this trip with no outside help (usually in the form of a husband or two)! Okay, we did rely heavily on the GPS, but other than that, we were pretty much on our own. The kids went along with our very vague daily agendas, never questioning why we never found the Indoor Enchanted Forest (who knew they closed at 2:00?). They didn't even question why we took them to a farm that had no animals (once again, who knew it was going to be 40 degrees outside that day?).

We took the kids to a Science Museum and Jared was most freaked out at the Brain Exhibit- -he was convinced that it was going to steal his brain. I think Christy has the photos of his freaked out face and plans on using it against him one day. Their favorite activity was the green screen at the Weather Exhibit-- watching them on video was a riot (well, at least the first 8 times... after that, it became a bit old).

And we spent each morning having breakfast at this "bed and breakfast"- in a fancy dining room with fancy food ( it was more like upscale cozy, but anything that does not involve a Sesame Street placemat and a cereal bar is fancy to my children). Manuevering my kids through this meal was my only stressor on this trip, but we did manage to enjoy each meal without breaking anything or inadvertently insulting the cook or other guests.
