It's been one of those days where the past couple of weeks have really caught up with me. The kids and I have been on our own the past couple of weeks as Ryan has been tied up with work and grad school obligations. Today, I think it really started to get to us and I know I was pretty cranky as I put away the same books/toys/shoes/underwear that I have put away 20 times in just as many hours and repeated the same directions to the kids (along with a couple of new ones, such as, "Kaci, stop scrubbing the bathtub with your toothbrush" and "Jared, get your underwear out of my purse.") I am very cognizant of the fact that these times are limited and there is no use in getting angry over it because one day I will be sad that I have no toys to pick up and no silly commands to give.
In order to break up one really loud portion of the afternoon, we threw an impromptu tea party:

Of course, this led to another big mess to clean up and it reminded me of the quote:
"I am thankful for the mess to clean after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends."

You are such an amazing mom, and I understand your feelings exactly! What is it with toothbrushes in exoctic locations. I have found mine scrubbing the dog bowl on occasion! Miss you!
Oh, I love the tea party. It looks like they had a lot of fun. I, too am in a rut with feeling like I always yell at the kids and lose my patience easily. Maybe I will try a tea party?! Looks like a blast.
