Last year, Jared started preschool. It was only three days a week for three hours at a time and we loved it. On the first day of school in 2006, here is what he looked like:
He spent most of 2006 in those black cowboy boots. He has since outgrown them, but still has a handy pair of boots that his Grandma Miedema bought him.
I admire his confidence, excitement, and enthusiasm (and his long eyelashes!). We can all learn something from a 4 year old. Looking at this picture in comparison to last year's picture is bittersweet- every parent knows that feeling. That sweet feeling of watching your child grow and exceed your every expectation, yet clouded by the bitter reminder that time moves too quickly.
In 2006, he also idolized Chicken Little, learned to write his name, started to memorize Bible verses, decided yellow was his favorite color, and discovered that a McDonald's cheeseburger is way more tasty than Chicken McNuggets.
This week, Jared began his second year at preschool. At first, he was most excited about his new Car shoes. So excited, in fact, he wore them to bed and woke up with them on.

After a fun first day of school morning at our house, we took Jared to school. There is absolutely nothing in his backpack, but he insisted on wearing it.

(this is Amy...I know it shows me logged in as pirate girl... got to change that:-)
So cute! Kaci is so RAD (yep bringing Rad back) She has a fantastic personality. It is that free spirit and fire that I love. We started school this week too. I came to the conclusion that Kyndal is everything that I want to be. She is so free willed and tells it how it is. She starts conversations with strangers, asking them questions (really good questions too) and she is so brave. These are qualities I've only discovered in myself. Maybe it is because she hasn't learned to be tactful with her comments but some comments are warrented for sure. Anyway, I love your blog and I'm so going to follow your lead on this. So soon you will see the Hampton Crew blog. It is such a wonderful way to log memories. Miss you all! -Amy
Luke loves Chicken Little also. But, I have to say seeing Jared in the chicken hat just brightened up my day. Luke also carries a spider man back pack to school with nothing in it. They just want to grow up too fast.
