There are so many things that I enjoy about living as an Army family. Being a California girl at heart (or West-siiiiiiiiiiiide as my old gangsta' self would say), I have to find pleasure at our forays in the South. One of such pleasures is the Southern tradition of fall festivals and pumpkin patches. Maybe these exist in Cali, but never in my neck of the woods. There isn't a single picture of me as a kid posing near a sea of orange pumpkins- and being the first kid, if there isn't a picture, it didn't happen (sorry to all third and fourth borns out there). Since my kids have been raised in Texas and Alabama, yearly pumpkin patch visits are the norm. Outings just to get that yearly picture are prepared for all year- people look at me weird when I think of our visit as an afterthought and no matching wardrobes. 
And we have never made such use out of our Halloween costumes. Gone are the days of putting together a costume from the bottom of your parents' closet at the last minute. We had been attending costume inspired events since the beginning of October. This year's events included the Boll Weevil Fall Fest, Spooky Fun Run (please notice Kaci's running shoes in following picture- love it!), Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween, and of course, actual Halloween night. This year's theme was All About the Bees: Bumblebee the Transfomer, Princess Ballerina Bee, Classic Baby Bee, Queen Bee, and the Beekeeper.
