No pictures to share--just a few thoughts to jot down....
This was the first Valentine's day in which Jared took an active interest. It was a painstaking evening as we sat to write out his classroom Valentine's cards. What I thought would be a quick assembly line of "perforate, sign, and seal" turned into pensive hours of matching the perfect Transformer (his card of choice this year) to the perfect classmate. And since my Transformer knowledge is quite slim, I wasn't much help. I did pick up on the fact that there are good Transformers and bad Transformers and that some kids like the bad Transformers more than the good ones. He was aware that some of the girls in his class didn't know too much about Transformers so he chose to give them the most popular Transformer card--Bumblebee. He wanted to win over Hayley since Hayley "hates him because he is a boy and Hayley hates boys except for her own brother" so he chose to give her the Optimus Prime card.
At his party the next day, he was very excited to pass out his cards and the boys were the first to notice which Transformer card they had received. Hayley wasn't impressed by Optimus Prime.
Kaci was way more interested in collecting Valentine's cards than she was in giving them to others. She is an organizer and always takes a systematic approach to anything that can be collected. Cards fit perfectly into this habit and since they contain pictures of cats and princesses and Hannah Montana and Transformers (which she does know quite a bit about, even though she is a girl) so the tradition of Valentine's cards works well for her.
At her party, she was most excited about receiving cards. And Fun Dip has been introduced and experienced and there is no going back.
Let me not forget about the wonderful gift Ryan gave me. Knowing that I would never make the time or have the patience to print out this blog for posterity, he printed and bound the 2007 version of this family blog. He did all of this without my knowledge and it was the perfect gift for me. (Of course, I hope he realizes that I will expect this gift every year!) Thank you Ryan for being so thoughtful and making it a wonderful Valentine's day.

Oh my gosh, I know this is going to sound silly, but I was kind of hoping Ryan would have done the same for me, but alas, it was not to be. I am NOT going to complain though because he did get me a digital frame and tickets to a show. It must be something about Ryan's....so thoughtful! LOL!
You know, if I would have stayed in LA, Luke would have been in Kaci's class....sad a little bit, but I am sure we will meet up again soon in this small army family. Take care girl!
